Another study also found that curcumin, the active ingredient of turmeric decreases damage to the ear due to loud noises. The study performed on rats showed that a dose of 100 mg of curcumin per day was effective in decreasing cell death as compared to the control. The study shows the potential of curcumin to treat tinnitus, given loud noise is one of its causes.

The antioxidant property also protects nerves from free radical damage, a cause of tinnitus.

Can you use Turmeric for infertility?

Turmeric can be used for infertility because it helps maintain and regulate hormonal balance in the body. It is hypothesized that the antioxidant activity of turmeric can improve egg and sperm quality by preventing cell damage. It is also believed to improve blood flow to the reproductive organs.

Can you use Turmeric to treat hangovers?

Turmeric can be used to treat hangovers because its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects decrease the hangovers’ mental and physical effects, and also help decrease oxidative damage due to alcohol toxicity. Turmeric also helps expedite the excretion of toxic metabolites from the body.

Various anti-hangover formulations containing turmeric have been formulated and shown to decrease the effects of hangovers after alcohol consumption. A patented anti-hangover formulation claims not only to decrease the effects of a hangover but to increase liver function as well. Another remedy to fight hangovers requires adding turmeric to alcoholic drinks before consumption, the product was filed for a patent.

A suggested home remedy for hangovers is to take one teaspoon of turmeric powder, coconut oil, and black pepper at the end of the night.

Is Turmeric useful for bodybuilding?

Turmeric is useful for bodybuilding in the following ways:

  • Reduces oxidative stress: subjecting our body to exercise increases oxidative stress that can create free radicals leading to cell damage. The antioxidant property of turmeric can help remove these free radicals and protect the body from oxidative damage.
  • Decreases inflammation and pain: The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric can also help reduce inflammation and pain associated with exercise and muscle damage
  • Can help with performance recovery: A study shows that curcumin supplementation decreased the inflammatory markers and improved performance recovery in mice after a running exercise.
  • Can help treat DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness): Another study performed on mice shows that curcumin can be potentially used for treating exercise-related DOMS.

What are the benefits of Turmeric for diabetics?

Following are the benefits of turmeric for diabetics:

  • Can decrease blood glucose level: According to a review, various animal studies show that turmeric can help decrease levels of blood glucose. In these studies, supplementation ranged from 14-60 days. The diabetic animal models showed a significant reduction in blood glucose levels after turmeric supplementation.
  • Manage Liver disorder: Another study shows that turmeric supplementation can help manage diabetes-related liver disorders, the researchers found that turmeric helped improve the excretion profile of the liver.
  • Stabilize blood glucose levels.
  • Can prevent diabetes-related nerve damage.
  • Can decrease diabetes-related mental effects and cognitive decline.
  • The antioxidant activity of curcumin can help prevent and treat diabetes-related kidney complications.

Curcumin also inhibits the body’s response to harmful stimuli such as harmful chemicals, adverse temperature, and mechanical injury, thus protecting nerves from inflammation.

Another study found that turmeric compounds promoted the growth and proliferation of brain stem cells. The research indicates that turmeric can be potentially used for the generation of new brain stem cells, which could be very useful for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.

Is Turmeric good for neuropathy?

Turmeric is good for neuropathy because the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of curcumin can help reduce the numbness and tingling associated with neuropathy. It does so by inhibiting the response of the body to toxic stimuli. The analgesic activity of curcumin can also help alleviate the pain from nerve damage.

A study performed on mice shows that supplementation with curcumin for 14 days reduced chemotherapy-induced neuropathy and decreased inflammation and pain.

Another study suggests that treatment with curcumin in the early stages of neuropathy can prevent further progression and development of neuropathic pain.

Can you use Turmeric for chalazion?

Turmeric can be useful for chalazion because it can reduce the inflammation of the excretory gland which leads to chalazion. Turmeric can also help protect the eye from infection during chalazion.
